How Shopper Data Is Handled

This article explains the data flow when a shopper uses TryPoint on your store, from photo upload to try-on result.

The data flow

  1. Shopper uploads a photo. The photo is sent securely to TryPoint's processing infrastructure.
  2. AI generates the try-on. Google's virtual try-on AI processes the photo and the selected product image. The processing happens on Google's cloud infrastructure.
  3. Result is displayed. The try-on image is shown to the shopper in their browser.
  4. Optional actions. Depending on your settings, the shopper may be prompted to share their email, grant usage rights, provide feedback, or share/download the result.

Security

  • All data transmission between the shopper's browser and TryPoint's servers is encrypted (HTTPS).
  • Photos are processed on secure cloud infrastructure.
  • Shopper photos are not shared with third parties.
  • Data is handled in accordance with GDPR requirements.

What happens to shopper photos

Shopper photos are used to generate the try-on preview and are not retained longer than necessary for that purpose. If the shopper grants usage rights, the generated try-on image (not the original photo) is saved to your admin gallery.

Shopper control

Shoppers maintain control over their data:

  • They choose whether to upload a photo.
  • They choose whether to share their email.
  • They choose whether to grant usage rights.
  • They can request deletion of their data in accordance with GDPR.

Merchant access

As a merchant, you have access to:

  • Try-on images where shoppers granted usage rights (in your admin gallery)
  • Email addresses from shoppers who opted in (for your email marketing)
  • Aggregated analytics data (not individual shopper data beyond what they consented to share)
