Photo Requirements for Shoppers

The quality of a try-on result depends on the photo the shopper uploads. Here are the guidelines for the best results, which you can share with your shoppers.

What makes a good photo

Clear and well-lit. A photo taken in good lighting with a sharp focus produces the best try-on output.

Simple background. Standing against a plain wall or solid-color background helps the AI isolate the person and generate an accurate result.

Face the camera. A natural, upright pose facing the camera works best. Casual poses are fine. Extreme angles or poses may reduce accuracy.

Just one person. The photo should show only the shopper, not a group. The AI needs to identify a single person to map the garment onto.

What to avoid

  • Standing behind furniture or objects that obscure the body
  • Very dark or backlit photos
  • Photos with heavy filters or editing
  • Group photos or photos with multiple people

Technical specs

Photos up to 10 MB are supported. Most smartphone photos work without any resizing or adjustment.

Communicating to shoppers

Consider adding a brief tip near the try-on button or in the try-on flow to help shoppers get the best results. Something like: "For the best try-on, use a well-lit photo against a plain background."

TryPoint handles a range of real-world photos, so shoppers do not need a professional photo. A standard selfie or mirror photo in decent lighting will produce good results.
